IS ONLINE DATING IS FUN? WHY IS IT DANGEROUS AND MIGHT LEAD TO CHEATING.

One of the project I manage between several is an online dating website that is, I sometime read people description on how they are and why they are on the website. I manage sometime to get some funny description, some ridiculous, awful and sometimes… simply inappropriate. But the point I want to outline is that lately, I read a description saying this: “My husband works too much and I’m seeking an extracurricular relation with man.” This is what I actually read.

This is not the first time I encounter such a description and very often, this is people seeking relationship with other people though they are married; some because their husband/wife is absent almost all the time, some for fun, others because they are no more interested in their partner. This brought me to ask myself whether online dating was something safe for couple. Imagine that you have an internet-enable PC at home and sometime, you work till late (say 1 hour more than usual), meaning you get home one hour later… do you get my point. How much time will your partner need to get on an online dating website (just for fun apparently for the first few time) and then date (just for fun I repeat). How much time will the “just-for-fun” take to become “just-to-try” another relation with someone else than you. Now, don’t go on suspecting your partner, he/she might be just playing games online (he/she also don’t know online dating exist).

We often say that the worst thing on the internet is porn and although we are right, I’ll prefer this make something clear: the worst thing “for minors” is porn but the worst thing for couple is online relationship which is the preliminary steps for off-line relationship. We must not forget that once we are accustomed with the idea of a relationship with another person, we won’t hesitate to do it off-line.

Returning the my question (title), is online dating fun and is this dangerous. It is fun but also very dangerous for couple. You can easily get new friends but also lose your partner.
